"In 2013, we received notice from the IRS that we were negligent by not submitting all required documentation for our 2011 Return. Therefore, we owed a substantial amount of additional tax, and a significant monetary amount in penalty fees. We immediately paid the additional tax, but wrote a letter to the IRS indicating that the omission was unintentional and requesting the IRS forgive the penalty. Needless to say, our letter produced no sympathy from the IRS Auditors. I then contacted Frank and advised him of the situation. Through his counsel and expertise, we were able to identify extenuating circumstances that for the most part, caused the document omissions. Frank then coordinated all further replies and submissions to the IRS, citing their own regulations and ultimately obtaining an abatement of the tax penalty in question. Besides the issue of financial savings, Frank has been a pleasure to deal with personally. He is extremely organized and enumerates in writing all the relevant tax questions, which then makes it easy to refer back to these to make sure they are properly addressed. He also keeps a running record of what has been previously discussed so that there is never a need to re-hash anything. (In my past dealings with accountants, I always seemed to be dealing with someone who needed to relay the question to another party, who then often never got back to me with an answer). By contrast, when you are working with Frank, you are reassured that you are dealing just with him and this takes a lot of the hassle out of getting the job done (and done correctly the first time).

Another nice part of Frank's service is the way he organizes your final returns in spiral binders with any supporting documents that were used attached to that section of the tax report. This then makes it easy to review the documents and helps to plan for the next year. (In my past dealings with accountants, my documents were usually returned randomly stuffed in a giant envelope without any idea about how the information had actually been used).

We also like the ongoing tax updates which Frank emails to us since we are alerted to any new information which we need to guide ongoing business decisions. Frank also posts us when he is on vacation so we always know whether he can be contacted on a given day. He is a great guy who does a superior job. What more can I say?

Since professional fees are fairly standard in metropolitan areas, I think it all boils down to the fact that a person should be getting their money's worth for the fees they are charged. Since switching to Frank I definitely feel that way. If you are unsure of whether you are getting your full value for accounting fees I recommend giving him a try.
